Our governing body works hard to support the school and all the staff in creating a safe, secure and stimulating environment in which the best possible education can be provided.
We work strategically to raise standards and to monitor and evaluate both progress and results.

Iris Butler worked in the NHS for over 35 years, with 20 of these being in Human Resources management. She was Director of Human Resources from 2001 to 2009. Iris is Vice-Chair of Rowcroft Hospice and a Trustee of CVA Torbay. Iris has been a Governor since 2007 and was appointed Chair in September 2008.
Interests: Sailing, Golf, Running and Walking.

John is married with one son aged 9. He has taught at Paignton Community & Sports College for 27 years in a variety of roles with responsibility. John was seconded as an Advisor to the Local Authority 2001 – 2005 and 2007 – 2009. John is the author of the Torbay RSE Secondary programme for Year 7 – 11. John is a nationally accredited teacher of SRE and holds a Diploma in PSHE.
Interests: Gardening, Ornithology and Water based activities.

Simon has worked in Zoos for 30 years. He became the Director of Paignton Zoo and Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust in 2000. He sits on many National and International Zoo and Conservation Associations. He has also been a Board member of Torbay Development Agency.
Interests: Birding, Rugby, Cricket and Travel.

Angela has two grown up children and three grandchildren. She worked in the private sector, mainly for the John Lewis Partnership, and then taught in Further Education as Head of School delivering NVQ and BTEC Qualifications. She holds a Cert. Ed. and a Diploma in Management. She believes that everyone should be supported to reach their potential.

Lyn Davis has worked at Paignton Community & Sports College for 15 years and is currently serving a second term as Staff Governor. She is currently employed as Catering Manager, responsible for catering across both College sites.

Allison has worked for Torbay Council for 8 years across Education and Social Care and is now Torbay Children’s Trust Manager. Allison has two children, one at primary and one at secondary school and a husband who teaches secondary pupils.

Mo is married with two grown up children. She worked for British Gas for 20 years as an Area Cashier before moving to Paignton to buy a hotel 12 years ago. She has recently retired and now works part time at Marks and Spencer. She has recently purchased a Public House with her son where she helps out when required.

Carolyn is a mother of four and spent 16 years moving around Europe and the UK with her husband who was in the Army. The family settled in Devon in 1998. Carolyn has worked at Paignton Community & Sports College as a Librarian since 2003.
Interests: Walking the dog, supporting sons at Cricket, Rugby and Surfing, Reading, Cookery and Entertaining.

Tracey is married to Doug and they have three children. Two of her children have benefitted greatly from attending Paignton Community & Sports College. One is now at Birmingham University and another has a place to study the International Baccalaureate. Tracey worked as a Biomedical Scientist in the NHS for 10 years so has a particular interest in Science.

Jim has lived in Paignton for 25 years. He has worked for Europlas, a local Home Improvements Company for 21 years where he is currently the General Manager. Jim is married with three children aged 22, 17 and 12.

Mark has been a teacher for 12 years and a Head of Year for 8. He has recently been promoted to Assistant Headteacher. Before teaching Mark was a Royal Marines Commando.
