The College became an Enquiry School in 2009. The Enquiry School Programme works over one year to explore how creative teaching and learning can enhance pupil practice. Enquiry Schools can decide on a specific focus for their programme in relation to the broader needs of the school.
Successful projects involve a range of creative professionals from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines including:
- Scientists
- Architects
- Designers
- Engineers
- Marketing and Media Experts
- Cooks
- Gardeners
- Artists
The Enquiry School Programme targets specific groups of pupils and teachers and aimes to develop:
- The creativity and enterprise of young people, raising their aspirations and achievements
- The skills of teachers and their ability to work with creative practitioners
- The skills, capacity and sustainability of the creative industries, and other partners who wish to work with schools
As an Enquiry School, we aim to:
- Enable our young people to be creative
- Provide the opportunity for our teachers and the creative professionals to encourage and develop that creativity, either working individually or together
- Ensure that this creativity drives improvement in an area important to Learning, as identified within our School Improvement Plan: LITERACY
- Engage our pupils with the world outside our school – applying their learning to a real life setting while sign posting opportunities for employment and further education
