‘Keeping your Child Safe Online’ a Parents’ Information Evening
On Monday, 6th February 2012 the College is very pleased to be offering an educational evening for all parents and carers entitled ‘Keeping your Child Safe on Line’.
You will be aware the internet hosts many exciting opportunities for education. The on-line world is a wonderful place for young people to explore, with unprecedented opportunities for learning and creativity, but just like the real world there are risks and dangers they should be aware of and which we should all act to protect them from. As a school we encourage the use of technology as an important part of our students’ development but always want them to spend their time on-line safely. As a parent/carer you can play a significant part in ensuring this.
The event begins at 7.00 pm and will take place in the 6th Form Common Room at the Borough Road Centre. During the evening members of staff will be giving a presentation where we will cover all aspects of on-line safety, including:
- The use of Social Media such as Facebook
- Mobile technology
- On-line gaming
- Instant messaging
- Cyber-bullying
- Digital Footprints/On-line Reputation
Refreshments will then be served, along with an opportunity to see our brand new, state of the art, Virtual Learning Centre. Whilst you are visiting the Centre you will have the chance to use our brand new computer suite to view the E-Safety pages of our College Website and meet the staff who are responsible for E-safety and Information Technology across the College.
