Olympic Primary Indoor Athletics Competition
On Wednesday 18th January over 100 pupils from Collaton St Mary, Curledge Street, Oldway and Kings Ash Primary Schools came together for an Olympic Festival of Fun competition. Each school brought up to 30 pupils to compete in track and field events which included; team relays, standing long jump and chest push. The idea of the competition was to give as many pupils the opportunity to experience events similar to those that will be part of the London 2012 Olympics.
The competition was run by the School Sport’s Council Young Leaders and Paignton’s 5 Olympic Young Ambassadors, who all did a fantastic job to make sure the events flowed without a hitch. There were even four Year 9 pupils who commentated on the events, which added to the excitement.
Although the emphasis was put on maximum participation and a fun-filled, action-packed afternoon, the winners progressed through to the area finals. Therefore Paignton Community & Sports College’s family Primary School Olympic Indoor Athletics champions are OLDWAY PRIMARY.
Congratulations to all pupils who were involved in the event.
